fly on mentieth

would like to thank dave macfluff and the p.f.f.a for giving robbie and myself the opportunitie to fish the lake of mentieth for pike on the fly,the first time ever the fisherie has let pike flyfishers on the lake,so a wee bit of history in the making.we never bagged any monsters but had great sport with the jacks.great sport,great banter with some great guys.

allan wins the open

well done to club member allan stewart who took first place in the inverness open comp today with this fine fish and new p.b of 20.12lbs(superb mate!)allan also had a fish of 4lbs.second place went to club member george cassles with fish of 13.01lbs and 5lbs and third place to comp newcomer kevin stewart with a fish of 1.9lbs.
a big thanks to all that turned up on the day,the staff at the lovart arms and all the club members that donated prizes for the raffle and gave up time to run the event.
i would like to think another successfull day with 5 possible new members.hope every one enjoyed themselfs and see you all at the next one.

rab adds to his tally of twentys

rab hay adds to his tally of twentys and also a new p.b. with a superb fish of 20.06lbs.this came in a superb day which saw rab and ewen land and safely return 7 fish each,well done lads.more ammo for the club mag

yet another p.b

a cracking 24.01lbs,what a superb weekend,we will do a wee article for club mag just to fill you guys in on the crack.

new p.b for rab on the fluff

club chairman and r.o. rab hay improved his p.b on the fly to just over 10lbs on a fly he tied himself,a big well done rab.
this comes after a superb weekend rab and myself had,with rab landinding 13 fish from 7.07lbs to 19.08 lbs.at least 9 of these fish came between 4.30 am and 8.30 am,so very little sleep for us.
myself,i managed 7 fish with one being a new p.b of 24.01.
one of the best fishing sessions we have had with just over 233lbs of fish landed and safely returned between us.

what a day

a new p.b for me at 22.8lbs,as well as fish of 18.9lbs,17.3lbs and 8.3 lbs.julie also got her new p.b of 9.8lbs.superb day.

KEEP SACK SWAP

guys if possible can you bring your keep sacks in to the next meeting(7th may)and have them swaped for new ones,the reason for this is we can use the tagged ones for our open comps,we have 14 new ones so theres enough to go round.

• next outings(april) are the 20th and 27th april,but some of us plan to fish a near by water the day before i.e 19/20th or 26/27th,any one needing info or directions give robbie a shout,and anyone cant make it let robbie know as he is sorting permits out for us too.

next open comp.sunday may 11th
first club overniter(may) saturday 24th through to sunday 25th

glasgow angling centre club book account

guys just to let you all know,we now have a discount club book account set up at the glasgow angling centre,basicly if your buying from the store you dont get discount BUT now if you buy from the store and ask them to enter amount you spend into the inverness ra74 club book,what they then do is note the amount members spend over the year and we get 10%back in gifts or vouchers to use as prizes for comps/presentation nights etc,so if we spend say £1000 in the store over the 12 months as club members we get back £100 worth of gifts or vouchers.the book is set to be cashed in mid january each year in time for future presentation nights.
other regions have used this system for a while now to great effect so its win win situation for our club now also.

march outing

the dates for this months outing are sunday 16th and sunday 23rd march,meeting at 8am at tarvie snack bar,good luck to all.

mick brown night

just like to say a big thank you to sandy and the guys from RA93 for making us feel so welcome on our recent visit to north lanarkshire for the mick brown talk and slide show.
what a fantastic night,with myself,ewen,robbie,tia and julie attending.must say mick brown is a great ambassador to pike fishing and the pac,not only a great talk but signing books,having photos taken and just getting the crack with folk a real down to earth gentleman with seemly endless energy,some photos to appear in tia's next mag.
also a great social event with 155 pikers from all over scotland attending was great meeting guys and catching up with some that have not seen in a while.

nathans new p.b.

nathan shines bright in the middle of the night.....well done nathan on your new personal best at a fine 18lbs,a cracking fish.well after that we put the light off because nath was beaming before robbie gagged him.

MARCH MEETING

march meeting will be on WEDNESDAY 5TH MARCH 8pm at the clachnaharry inn,all welcome.

FEBRUARY OUTING

guys this months outing is split into a home and away style.Those fishing the home leg will meet on sunday 17th feb at the drum takeawy 8am and those fishing the away leg will meet at the lochside cafe/boathouse at 8am on sunday 24th feb,any one wanting more info regarding the away leg please get in touch.

PRESENTATION NIGHT SUCCESS

last night saw our first presentation night at fairways,i think its fair to say it went well and a good time was had by all.

last years run away leader rab hay(above)taking home the silver,club champion,best fly/lure caught trophy and heaviest fish caught on a day non points outing.well done rab.george cassels took the club runner up and heaviest fish caught on a outing.well done george.i got sportsman of the year,thanks guys and Matthew taking the spoon.

a big thanks to every one for donating to the raffle prizes,and for all the work involved to make the night happen,thanks to fairways for the buffet,bar and facilities and pro sound for the disco.

all ready looking forward to the next one.

club magazine launch

Thanks to some very hard work from tia and robbie we now have a club magazine,we hope to bring out 4 issues a year with fishing updates,photos,club news any stories,members profiles,for sale and with a bit of luck some sponsers.
I think we would all agree that tia(the editor)has made a fantastic job of the first issue,but she needs photos,stories any input that can be used, please email tia any thing you would like to see included in future issues,thanks
