BBQ WEEKEND AND CALEDONIAN SHIELD SUCCESS

Another fantastic BBQ weekend and i think we all agree that Robbie did a fantastic job as chef as always,the food on offer was superb many thanks to all that donated the grub.Robbie for the superb salad and venison,James Dyce for the good deal on the butcher stuff,Jim Morrice for the excellent fish and all other members that brought stuff along.We certainly don't go hungry.
The weather and the fishing wasn't as good as we would have wanted but we didn't let it spoil our weekend.
Well done Jim Morrice on his 22lbr the biggest of the weekend.
Our first RA 74 Caledonian Charity Shield was won by Ian and the money raised £200 will be donated to the Elgin cancer care unit(more on this as i get more details)this is over and above the £300+ we have raised for the Highland Hospice earlier this month.
Well done Ian for winning the shield and BIG thanks to all our members that took part over the weekend.

Well done to junior member Cameron Davie who blew away his previous personal best with this awesome fish early saturday morning.Cameron was over the moon and also had a few other nice fish during a couple days away with his dad Alex Davie and Alan Wands on an undisclosed water,and to top it off Cameron continued his fine form on Sunday's club outing catching again and making it 3 outings in a row he's caught something most of us adults are struggling to do!

WELL DONE GORDY!

On his first outing with the club as a guest before joining in the new year,gordy started the day with a p.b of 11lb+ and after a long cold day without much action between us and our thoughts turning to packing up as the sun was going down,a couple of wee bleeps and gordy was hooked into a fish and after a few minutes she was in and on the weigh sling,a superb last 10 minutes of the day and a superb fish of 19.08lbs.A very happy chappy indeed.

November outing is a weekender on sat/sun 13/14th and boats and Hotel have been booked for a good while now,and weather permitting should be a good weekend.
Meeting at the fishery at 8 a.m,fishing starts at 9 a.m.
Rules are same as last year SEA DEADBAITS ONLY,MIN LURE SIZE 6".
2 baitrods,lure or fly rod may be used.
lifejackets to be worn at ALL times while on the boats.
please bring boat nets and unhooking mats/sladdle as they are not provided.
the fishery can provide lifejackets if needed.

Guys, we need a big response here!!!!
please get in as many objections as we can before the 20th of september,even if it dont effect you now am sure in time it will as these bans tend to snowball and before long its nationwide,as much as i agree something has to be done a camping ban is not the way forward,not only would bivvies be banned but also day shelters and brollies, effectively spelling the end for bank fishing as we know it......this is the thin end of the wedge and if we dont try to stop it now,in time each and every one of us will suffer, wether it be a short day session to guys traveling up fom south to bivvie up for a few days?PLEASE TAKE 5 MINS TO HELP.

A big well done and thanks to all our members thats made it for this event to fish,help out and just be part of a great cause that not only raises money for the heroes fund but also highlights another great aspect of pike fishing, when we all come from far and wide,a united band of piking brothers and sisters to be part of a special day.
Scobes is chuffed to bits with the response and to date has raised just over £2000 with a few more things to be auctioned off soon on ebay as they were not available on the day.
Again a huge well done to scobes for making it all happen,our members for there surport and all that turned up and surported this event

HELP FOR HEROES pike fishing fundraiser!

Right the good bit fishing on the fishery is now concrete set in stone confirmed, I have 14 boats for the day that I will need advance bookings for, (well 13 one boats already been booked by Mr Jones from Inverness) the cost of the boats are going to be £40 for two anglers this covers all permits and fuel. So don’t be shy email me with your details if you require a boat for the event.

Bank fishing for the event looks like its going to be £10 per angler this will if possible include the days fishing and something from the BBQ in the evening (I am still trying to confirm the BBQ catering arrangements).

Loch Venachar fisheries management have very kindly agreed to do a breakfast roll and mug of tea or coffee for £3 (there will be a portion of this donated to the H4H charity).

I am working on the posters as we speak and they will be sent out to various tackle shops places of interest throughout the UK as well as the angling media.

Once again sorry I've not been keeping this updated things got a bit mental recently.

WELL DONE,again to Shane Lyon who picked up the prizes from the P.A.C. magazine PIKELINES.Shane was choosen as Pikelines junior gallery winner of the year from his amazing day back in march,our club sec and Shanes dad Ewen presents the prizes to Shane,who was over the moon.
Big thanks to Steve Ormrod at Pikelines and of coarse the fantastic sponsers of the junior picture page in the mag.

this months outing is a weekender 19/20th,meeting at tescos in aviemore before heading south,the venues been booked and we have arranged some float tube and kayak demos if anybody fancies a go also fly casting lessons and an insight into lure fishing etc aswell as a bbq on saturday evening.

well done rab,on a recent trip to the Lake of Mentieth for the P.A.A.S. lure and bait event,Rab and myself managed a dozen fish to the boat,rab getting the lions share as per usual,ha ha.
but the highlight of the day was this 19lbr and beating his previous mentieth best by half a pound.Absolute mint fish.

first bbq weekend of the year

this is what its all about,forget points,forget trophies or who caught the biggest or most fish,seeing a farther taking the time to teach his boy the importance of pike handling and welfare at such a young age can only ensure the future of the sport is bright,well done ewen and young innes.a few fish each too,cant be bad.

A big well done to sean anderson,who just joined the club and new to pike fishing,got his first ever pike on his third outing with us and at 10lb8oz is not a bad start.i think the big smile says it all!

Many thanks to all the members that came along to first bbq/overniter of this year,a good time was had by all,the weather was a bit dreek saturday and rained all saturday night but the sun did come out sunday afternoon to dry of the kit nicely before heading home.

a big thanks to robbie(master chef)milne for taking full command of the bbq and bringing along the venision burgers and sasauges(even if they were a bit deer)and making the best tattie salad in the highlands.

also big thanks to andy(the butcher)grant for again bringing along a fine selection of steaks and other meats,sean(the baker)anderson for getting us a great deal on all the rolls.

a warm welcome to david (scobes)scobie after a recent transfer to a nearby airbase has joined our region,was great to finaly meet you and your good lady mate.hope you enjoyed your first outing with us?

a special thanks also to Graham Slater for coming north and spending a few days fishing with us,again we hope you enjoyed your trip to the hills.

thanks again for the surprise birthday cake and card guys,was near a tear in my eye,ha ha.

SUPER SHANE SCORES DOUBLE TWENTY

Well what can we say about the day young Shane Lyon has had!stuff dreams are made from.On his first club outing of 2010 Shane was fishing with dad Ewen and granddad Rab,losing a nice low double early on Shane was more than keen to get his bait back out in the same spot in the hope of landing his first ever pike,after a short while another run and this time he managed to land her and a new p.b as its his first pike at a mighty 24.14lbs(pictured above).a massive well done young man but shane was'nt done yet a few hours later just to top the day off he managed to winkle another cracker at 22.11lbs.

Dad Ewen keeping a firm grip on this one as she was a bit lively and Shane wants to keep his fingers a while yet!

What a fantastic catch Shane,on behalf of the club we wish you a massive congrats again and a big happy birthday(11)for monday,be hard to beat them pressies.

A good turn out by members for this outing and the chance to meet and fish with pac General Secretary Graham Slater.'Thanks for making the time to come and meet us graham'.the weather was a lot better than forcasted but i fear the freezing temps the night before might have put the fish off a wee bit.Well done to my boat partner for the day Andy Grant who landed the biggest of the day at 16lbs(his first pike to a boat),Rab Hay had a nice 14.08lbr and lost another fish and Jim Morrice had a couple to the lures.

A great day out and many thanks to all that attended.Below is a happy Andy with his fish.

mentieth charity day

WELL DONE to outwith member JIM MORRICE on his new p.b. of 28.08lbs caught on a lure on the pac/paas joint charity day on the lake of mentieth.jim was my boat partner for the event and hooked this cracking specimen with his first ever cast of a bull dawg lure,was a pleasure for me to be ghillie(as usual,ha ha).
A great day out and a good few pounds was raised on the day,our club donation was gratefully received by pac general secretary Graham Slater and thanks were sent to our club and members.

juniors shine at our open

another successful open today,with 30+ anglers turning out for a days fishing,with a very good increase in juniors fishing(after all we want to encourage the future of our sport).not a great deal to mention fish wise but one lucky lad stole the show.a big well done to young luke baker who up on holiday with his parents managed to land himself a new p.b of 11.07lbs(biggest fish of the day)and scoop the junior prize of rod,reel and tackle.well done luke.
